Diosmin is a semisynthetic flavonoid molecule derived from citrus d (modified hesperidin). Diosmin is used for treating various disorders of blood vessels including hemorrhoids, varicose veins, poor circulation in the legs (venous stasis), and bleeding (hemorrhage) in the eye or gums. It is also used to treat swelling of the arms (lymphedema) following breast cancer surgery, and to protect against liver toxicity. It is often taken in combination with hesperidin.
Factors such as increased air travel, lack of exercise, sitting at a computer for long hours, improper diets, growing obesity, and aging are causing vascular problems.
Consult your doctor before using diosmin and hesperidin to treat a health problem.

A 2012 review of 10 studies concluded that moderate evidence supports the use of MPFF (diosmin) to improve CVD symptoms, such as leg ulcers, edema, varicose veins, tingling sensation, the general quality of life, and subjective pain ratings. A 2016 review and 2018 meta-analysis supported these findings.
Diosmin is a natural flavonoid mainly present in the peel of some citrus fruits, such as oranges and lemons.
Hesperidin, alone or in combination with other citrus bioflavonoids (such as diosmin), is most commonly used for blood vessel conditions such as hemorrhoids, varicose veins, and poor circulation (venous stasis).
Diosmin is safe for most people when used short-term for up to three months. It can cause some side effects such as stomach and abdominal pain, diarrhea, and headache. Do not take diosmin for more than three months without medical supervision.
Diosmin works by helping to reduce the inflammation in your veins and reduce any venous hypertension. Research studies have shown that taking Diosmin can reduce fluid volume in a patient’s leg.
